MyQ Shows No Response in HomeKit

Need help maintaining operability and response of MyQ with HomeKit. No matter how many times I factory reset the MyQ Home Bridge and re-add it to HomeKit, it never works more than a few times then Siri/HomeKit lose their ability to open or close the door altogether after a few minutes...afterwards, HomeKit only monitors the garage door’s status. Is there a way to resolve this issue?

Replace the battery in the door sensor (CR2450...$4.99 @ Walmart). Works PERFECTLY now. Simple fix that no one at Chamberlain suggested but I notified them and asked that they add it to their troubleshooting.

Mine worked fine with the app, too. The battery wasn’t completely dead but it wasn’t full strength. Here’s how I figured it out:

I was at my wits end with troubleshooting, phone calls to tech control and constantly resetting the devices. I woke up at 2am one morning, couldn’t sleep and started reading forums. I came across a 3 year old thread where the person mentioned his sensor light was yellow instead of red which indicated a weak sensor battery. They replaced it and it fixed their issue. Indeed, my sensor light was yellow as well. So, I drove to Walmart, grabbed a battery, replaced it and EUREKA! It’s worked fine ever since.

I have same issue the myq gateway(cigbu/c aka 828LM)will work but the myq homekit(MYQ-G0303-SP aka 819LMB)wont respond.I believe its the ios causing the issue and possible the myq app needs updating. remove the homekit and gateway or you wont be able to set both up.gateway will install in the myq app with no problems but trying to get the homekit to install and be functional is another question. The fix to this problem is to remove it from apple's app and myq app. than reset the myq home kit once you reset it add the homekit first in the myq app under the device management settings . it will also add it under HOMEKIT HOMES for siri to control . it should install properly without the gateway but but will not respond until you add the gateway. after its installed properly make sure under device management HOMEKIT HOMES that the home kit is checked as the primary kit to be used for siri.make sure the gateway is reset too. need a paperclip to reset it. once reset it you can add the gateway under the device management settings. because of the latest ios 13.2.3. you don't need to add in the apple's app its automatic installed. if you install the gateway first you will never be able to get the home kit to install properly and when installing the homekit you cant transfer to that device. no need to transfer device because you set you the home kit first as primary. this is the message received before (Important MyQ alert we noticed a potential issue with the device you are trying to add. please contact us 800-528-9131 error900)iPhone11 max

So I'm not sure what to say, but somehow HomeKit has started working. Here we go...

I got back into touch with apple and they took more logs. I haven't heard back from them since then.

While I was desperately waiting to hear back from apple, I used an ip scan tool on my Mac by "IP scan Pro." I have everything on my network labeled on this tool and I noticed that the MyQ Homebridge was not showing. So at this point the garage doors were showing "No Response" in HomeKit but they were showing up fine in the MyQ app (same issue as before). I don't get how it's not showing on my local network on my local IP address range.

At this point I was certain this was a chamberlain issue because the device is basically falling asleep on the network and not visible. I called chamberlain, told them what was going on and the had no history of me calling in before somehow. I have no idea how not, but I told them what was going on and they acted completely different. I had not called them for 2 months and they said about 2 months ago their team had totally changed their focus and support for HomeKit, and that they need to now make sure HomeKit works for their users. Looks like I must had called just before that when they didn't care. Anyways, because of no history of calling in, they had to walk me through ground zero of reseting the home bridge and repairing everything. Reseting everything was the same procedure, but the one thing different this time around was connecting the MyQ homebridge to wifi. This time around, I added the home bridge to wifi before doing anything in the app. With the new iOS version I had (iOS 13.2.3) they had me go to settings app > wifi > and then the home bridge appeared there. It also said "setup this accessory." So I did that, went back to the app, and this time the actual process connecting the MyQ homebridge to HomeKit worked. SIDE NOTE: They didn't say much about the MyQ homebridge not being visible on my network other than that was out of their realm and that I needed to start here with them before escalating it further to their quality assurance team which may have the tools to diagnose an issue like that.

For a few weeks everything was good! Then I noticed "No Response" again. But then it fixed itself. But then it did it again later and didn't work. At this point I wanted to try to do 2 more things. I originally had it located in the garage where I do get good wifi but the original MyQ non HomeKit bridge was there because I had it connected to ethernet. However on this new MyQ homebridge it unfortunately does not have ethernet and because of the cheap wifi card chamberlain used in the MyQ homebridge, when looking at my access point statistics, the signal for the device was very low. I also removed the MyQ homebridge from static DHCP from my router. In other words, I had an assigned IP address to it before which I do not have anymore. At this point this seemed to have done the trick. Another 3 weeks with no issues. SIDE NOTE: MyQ app must ping the device and HomeKit does not, or at least it is done differently between the two and does not work when HomeKit does it. Because this would be my only assumption on why HomeKit says "no response" and MyQ app is fine when the MyQ homebridge could not be found on my network.

Great. Now here we go again, however the MyQ homebridge is visible on the network but shows "No Response" in HomeKit. I looked into the MyQ app and "Home Data" was somehow turned off. It must have been app updates and they did something different with it which cause home data to turn off. I turned it back on. HomeKit showed "no response" still. I was too lazy to go unplug the MyQ homebridge and plug it back in so I checked a few hours later and saw it successfully show up in HomeKit.

Seriously what a pain. Apple may have done some fine tuning adding IoT devices to wifi and maybe their HomeKit app. Chamberlain may have fixed their app, since HomeKit home data was turned off after updating the app. And/or the issue was solved by moving the MyQ homebridge closer to one of my wireless access points.

It may have been one thing or all 3. Please let me if any of this helps and what may have solved the issue for you.

Thanks for your help but I believe I have a different setup than you.

My setup is:

  • 2 sidemounted LiftMaster 8500 garage door openers
  • LiftMaster 819LMB Homebridge (Gateway)
  • 2 LiftMaster 888LM Control panel for each garage door opener

None of these items require the coin cell battery that you are talking about.

I just ordered a Liftmaster 889LM control panel replacement for free. Supposedly the 888LM had a bunch of issues where it would just die, so LiftMaster is replacing them for free under warranty. Go to the site, look up the 889LM, and there will be a big warranty banner on the page of the item to get the free replacement.

Hopefully this works for me. I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

Replacing the 888LM with the 889LM didn't do anything. But, at least I know it won't fail.

Chamberlain is saying it's a HomeKit issue, and they said this because everything works fine in their app. What a garbage answer. Literally, they still have to do the integration part of HomeKit to get their device to work with it. But, maybe it is a HomeKit issue.

My Fiancé has the same setup as me (wifi, liftmaster unit, literally everything) which I installed and everything is working for her fine. The only differences between our HomeKit setups is that I have had mine much longer (literally from the start) and that I have many more devices connected to HomeKit.

I currently have an open case with Apple that I started last week. I gave them all the details and they collected log files for when the device is showing "No Response" in HomeKit and when it's working correctly. (Unplugged the MYQ bridge and plugged it back in to get it working in HomeKit again) Apple said they are currently investigating it and that we need to schedule another appointment for them to collect more log files with iOS 13.2.2, which was release just after they collected my log files last week. I'm going to get back into touch with them today or tomorrow and make sure they will always have what they need to get this sorted out.

I will reply back with any important updates.
