Car play disconnects from my iphone XR

I plug in my iphone XR into my Accord 2928 Accord hybrid and start using Apple Maps for guidance. While driving, the iphone disconnects from the car, happening at random during my trip.

This started 6 months after getting the car and is getting worse daily. I have to unplug and replug the usb connector into the car to reestablish contact. It happens with 2separate connectors. I have tried 3 new genuine Apple cables with the same result.

The Honda deer is willing to do a system reset which requires physical removal of my receiver.

I wonder if anyone has had a similar experience and might have a less drastic solution?

I have followed this set of instructions. I believe the instability began after one of the ios upgrades. I notice that Honda dies not guarantee the successful operation of Carplay with each ios upgrade. I will pursue the system reset that Honda has agreed to do in an attempt to solve my current issue.

I am also going to switch to Google maps to see if that solves the issue.
