Red Question Mark and Sender Name In Mail App

Hello Support Community,

I recently received an email to my corporate email account, and when i opened the email the senders name was red with a red question mark next to it.

If i click on the question mark I get directed to the settings app to "Trust" the certificate for the sender.

The sender is legitimate and using a @Mac.com email address. I have just never seen the sender name turn red in the Mail app. Does anyone know what this means, or can anyone cite an article where apple explains the cause for this?

Hey, DavidAno2.

I see that you received a trust certificate from a contact in your Contacts application from an email sent to your corporate email account. I'm glad to help.

List of available trusted root certificates in iOS 12, macOS 10.14, watchOS 5, and tvOS 12 -- This is a list of certificates that can be trusted.

Trust manually installed certificate profiles in iOS -- These are the steps to use to manually trust a certificate profile.

Before you decide to trust the certificate, I recommend contacting your tech department to verify the certificate can be used on your corporation email account.

Take care.
