@me.com vs @icloud.com

I used my email to register for an event, but used the @me.com domain out of habit, as opposed to the correct @icloud.com domain. To make matters worse, the password I used in conjunction with the email was not saved to my keychain, and I forgot it. So when I use the "forgot password" feature on the website, it send the password reset email to an address I can't access.

I tried contacting the company I have the transaction with, and was told due to privacy rules, they cannot change the email address.

Question: is there anyway to access the @me.com email as I have the same address using the @icloud.com domain?

Do you mean that the password in question is for access to this third-party company you were registering with, rather than an Apple password? If so it's between them and you - Apple isn't involved and can't help.

However, you say you can't access the @me.com address - do you in fact have an iCloud account which was converted from a MobileMe account? In that case there would be the same text before the @me.com and @icloud.com addresses and they are in effect the same thing - messages to both go to the inbox so you should be able to read them.

Or is your iCloud account one which was created after the demise of MobileMe in 2012? if that's the case you don't have an @me.com address, at least not with that account, and they are sending the reset password to a non-existent address so it will bounce.

You say 'out of habit' which suggest that you have an @me.com address and have been using it, so it's difficult to work out exactly the situation you are in. So the question is, is the text before the @me.com the same as the text before the @icloud.com? (Don't post it here!)

You have an Apple ID say example1@me.com to create this id you need a rescue mail address and password that should be totally different than the primary Apple ID address and its password , also date of birth and answers for three security questions are required see these articles https://support.apple.com/en-in/HT201356

https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201487

You can only reset through security questions .

After resetting the password create a new web mail account say with gmail services https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/27441?hl=en , and then edit the rescue mail account ( the method is written in the article )

And if you had created an Apple ID say example2@icloud.com the same criteria is required as stated above , but these two Apple ID are created with different domains and are not connected to each other and you can't mix and match the data .

I guess reading it back, I could have been more clear.

I had a MobileMe account way back. I had my main email and some aliases created using the @me.com domain. After the demise of MobileMe, I created a couple more aliases using the iCloud.com domain. The email in question is one of those. I created myemailalias@icloud.com (not real) but when I signed up for this account, I mistakenly used myemailalias@me.com. I never had that alias using the me.com domain before MM’s demise. Now, I can’t get in to the account because the password didn’t save to my keychain (and I’m an idiot that can’t remember passwords for more than 10 seconds). I’m pretty sure i’m s.o.l. here, but I thought I would check anyway.
