I have a Mac Mini (Late 2014) and I want to know if it is able to run the LG 5K Ultrafine monitor at 4K at a decent refresh rate?
I have a MacBook Pro which I use for work but I also have the Mac Mini as a file server, but also as a backup machine in case the MacBook Pro fails.
So I know the MacBook Pro will work on the LG 5k monitor, but I want to know if I can connect a Mac Mini (Late 2014) via Thunderbolt 2 to 3 adapter?

The 2014 MacMini will only work at 30 Hz @ 4K
regardless of the display. As per the spec here:

and these resolutions are only supported via HDMI port.
The integrated graphics chip is simply not sufficient
to drive a 4K display @60 Hz. Many have tried and failed.

Isn't that just for HDMI thought? I'm talking about going via a Thunderbolt 2 -> 3 cable.
