Mac mail keeps crashing

My Mac Mail app crashes multiple times a day. I have restarted upgraded and updated everything and nothing changes. I started using outlook for a while just to see what would happen and it ran fine. I just switched back to Mac mail and it has already crashed 4 times today. My Mac Book pro is a 2017 and the battery went out(swollen) and had to be replaced. At the Genius bar they ran through some basic clean up on my mail cache to see if that would help and it do not.

Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode?

Safe mode attempts to repair Disks & clears lots of caches, so if Safe Mode works try again in regular boot.

˜What all 3rd party extensions are you running?

EtreCheck is a simple little app to display the important details of your system configuration and allow you to copy that information to the Clipboard. It is meant to be used with Apple Support Communities to help people help you with your Mac.

Pastebin is a good place to paste the whole report...

Workable but harder for me to work with...the Note tool on the bottom of this editor's toolbar, as shown in the image, to copy and paste the output from EtreCheck.

I have the same issue - Mail crashing on my MacBook Pro (never had any problems with it before).

Of note, it seems to happen when I cannot connect to my server at work (@sw.ca). When I bring my MBP at work and it connects, all is fine but if it doesn't connect, it crashes. I removed all account related to @sw.ca (that I could find) and it still crashes.

I moved lots of folders around, backed up some and deleted some (at work, using Mail on my iMac) and that's when the issue started so my gut feeling is that Mail on my MBP is looking for something that isn't there anymore and it crashed when it cannot trace the history - not being able to connect to the network at work.

Tried SafeMode and Mail is crashing in SafeMode too.

I have SmallCubedMail Suite installed (paid for and registered) but even when I de-installed it, Mail crashes (and SmallCubedMail Suite was working fine before).

I would greatly appreciate your help! I am off-site and can't go to work/can't get to my iMac so I have to fix my MBP to be efficient remotely again.

Please see attached the EtreCheck report as you suggested and a partial Apple Report (if you need the full one I can send in other ways).

Looking forward to hear from you,

Sincerely,

IA

Prior to reading your messages, I decided to delete (completely - instead of making it just inactive) my work account in Mail as that seemed to be giving me issues (exchange.sw.ca). Mail did not crash since then! (fingers crossed).

I will hold off for now on other modifications (e.g. suggestion to fix host files) and see if Mail is stable.

I will keep you posted and thank you so much for replying!

I had noticed with Avira that I had lots of files in quarantine and I could not delete them easily. And I had noticed the Adware too - so I took your advice here and uninstalled Avira without keeping files in quarantine. Restarted are reinstalling now.

I deleted TeamViewer too - did not used it in a long time.

I searched for the files you suggested to delete and could find only one (com.perion.searchprotectd.plist) and I deleted it.

Mail still stable (fingers still crossed)

Thanks so much again. It's great to have such a community to help.

Hello,

Adware - Adware detected!!!

Uninstall Avira per their directions.

Delete these files...

/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.perion.searchprotectd.plist

/Applications/SearchProtect/SearchProtect.app

com.perion.searchprotectd.plist

com.smallcubed.suite.helper.plist

~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.smallcubed.suite.helper.plist

do you need teamviewer installed?

Restart.
