Photos app prevents syncing iPhone to MacBook

I tried to back up my iPhone to iTunes on my MacBook, but the Photos app keeps popping up on the MacBook before I can get to the iTunes screen. I've tried quitting Photos, as well as force-quitting Photos, and leaving Photos up but moving it out of the way, but it keeps taking over - along with an annoying beep every second or two. What could be causing this and how do I get Photos to stop launching?

Hey, G-nee

I see that, whenever you connect your iPhone to your MacBook, the Photos application automatically opens. You'd like it to stop, and I'm glad to help.

Import photos from a camera or phone using Photos on Mac -- Connect your iPhone to your Mac and click on the iPhone icon under "Devices" in the left-hand panel. Look at the bar at the top of the application and deselect "Open Photos". Quit Photos and disconnect your iPhone. Connect it again to see if the app stays closed.

Let me know how that goes, and take care!
