I tried to send and email and got the message Cannot send message using the server Gmail. I no longer want to send the message but it keeps popping up and makes it hard to shut my computer down without quitting mail several times. How do I get rid of this?
Delete the stuck message from the outbox folder within mail, and then restart mail if necessary.
Or fix the issue with sending and the Google Mail server configuration.
Or both.

Good advice so far... if need be disconnect from the Internet until you get a chance to delete that eMail.
