iPhone flashlight dimming with age

I have an iPhone 6s that’s about 8 months old. No damage of any kind, and aside from the terrible cellular and WiFi reception its always had, works fairly well. Except the flashlight...

Even when on full power, it’s only a fraction of the intensity that it once was. Essentially worthless for even finding something inside a dark car or findin the slot in the doorknob to slide a key in. When compared to my iPod Touch 6th Gen, it’s not even half as bright.

The nearest eat apple store is in another state (other countries, but not in all the continental 50 yet?) and HOURS drive away. And an authorized repair center is also. There was a 6 month waiting list for a battery to my 6 plus from there, and I imagine it’s the same for this IF I can be told what’s wrong.

so does anybody have any ideas? The control center shows full power, and I can’t imagine any other setting that would effect it.

The battery replacement promotion was in a whole different category than anything else that Apple has ever done.

As far as the flashlight/camera flash goes - it's really an LED. They can degrade at different rates. The standard for LED lighting is how long it lasts before it's expected to be at maybe 50% original brightness.

If you really want to you can request mail-in service, but of course then you're waiting for it to return with little information on when.
