Disabled Apple Music Skill on Alexa Echo and then setup again - won't recognize it

I had a subscription for Apple Music that started with my daughter being the owner. I modified the account to be my own account. I unlinked or disabled the skill on my Alexa App on my Android phone. I then linked it to my apple music subscription. If I ask Alexa Echo to play music from my phone then it plays the music. If I ask Alexa to play Apple Music then it states that I need to link an account to it. I have tried unplugging and restarting Alexa and waiting until the next day. It still does not work. It is like Alexa has some setting that it doesn't want to let go of from the old account. Any ideas?


My apple music app and alexa app are all updated on my Samsung Note 8.

Thanks becky_s22, I tried everything above that you mentioned and nothing worked. I finally contacted Amazon and they had a rough time figuring it out as well. The end result was that I needed to enable freetime on the device and then disable it again. For some reason my daughter had a freetime profile and it was stuck on her and telling Alexa to switch profiles wouldn't work. By enabling and disabling freetime helped reset whatever setting was causing the glitch. It now works with my apple music and is now on my profile.


I previously reset Amazon Echo and deregistered and unlinked the skill, etc. Nothing worked, but what I mentioned above with the freetime did.

Let's start by ensuring that you're currently signed in to Apple Music on your Android device with an Apple ID that has two-factor authentication enabled, then follow the steps under the "Set up Apple Music with Alexa" section here:

Restart the Echo, then check for and install any available software updates for that as well:

If you still encounter the message indicating that the Apple Music skill is disabled, you can also try signing in to the Amazon website from a web browser, then enable this skill:
