my son's phone caught on fire in his bed last night- what am I supposed to do now???

So, my son woke me up this morning to tell me that his bed was on fire, but he put it out, smothered it with a blanket. His iphone se had caught fire somehow and he was awoken by the sound of crackling flames and the smell of ash. I am soooo thankful that he is ok, but not sure how to get anything replaced. I called at&t and they said to go online and tell apple. Can anyone tell me who to call?

I am still wondering if there if Apple will replace our phone? Who do I call?

Theoretically complete destruction is one of the reasons why Apple may decline their standard fee replacement, but for this there's a good chance that Apple may make an exception. This is definitely something that most manufacturers would like to see to figure out what might have happened.

Approximately where are you located? You could return it to Apple and see if they would offer a replacement.

There has never been a documented case of this happening with an iPhone that was not tampered with by an unauthorized party.

iPhones have caught on fire before where there was no unauthorized modification or repair. It's not a matter of whether or not it's Apple, but there can always be random reasons why lithium batteries catch on fire. We're talking hundreds of millions of devices. I'm not an alarmist about this, but I know it can happen with nearly any type of device.

The article doesn't mention it, but they've talked to several reporters and told at least one that it had never been serviced by a third party.
