MacBook Pro: Can't open folders with a double click.

I have Mojave on a 2015 MacBook Pro: Can't open folders with a double click. (tried slowing down the click settings. Didn't work.)

In the Trackpad settings at the very bottom of the first tab try unchecking the "Force" option. I know this setting interferes with dragging & dropping of items for me, maybe it is making it difficult for a double-click.

Can you perform a double click with an external mouse or trackpad?

Sorry this is so late. Your suggestion worked. My double click works. However, does anyone know how you can cancel the "hover" thing that selects whatever you're cursor is over. It always selects things I don't want. I think it is one of those things that are supposed to "help" with the Mojave. I wish they were not so helpful.
