Removing old phone number from contact in Messages

We're trying to eliminate an old phone number from popping up in Messages on my wife's iPhone 7 running IOS 12.4. The first number for Brett below is his current number. The number below is his old number which someone else now has. We used to be able to press the "i" button and there would be an option to Remove or Forget or something like that. That option is no longer there. How do we clear this old number out so it doesn't pop up anymore? It's not in his contact record either.
