Adobe Flash Player Install Manager and Viruses?

I have the Adobe Flash Player Install Manager on my Mac, and have heard bad things about it. I was wondering if I should uninstall it, and if so, is it safe to put my password in and install a new helper tool, as it asks me to?

Also, since I got my Mac nearly three years ago, it has never run badly, but I'm still worried that there might somehow be hidden viruses that I don't know about. Does anyone know of a safe way to check this for sure?

If you downloaded the Flash installer direct from Adobe, then you are "Ok", except for the constant vulnerabilities being found in Flash and the non-stop patching required. Never download Flash from any other source as it may include malware. As @ckuan says Flash is not really needed anymore as most browsers are eliminating support for Flash and Adobe itself is planning to retire Flash soon. I haven't had Flash installed for the last 5 years and have not missed it. If you want to remove Flash make sure all your browsers are closed and follow the instructions from Adobe on how to uninstall Flash.
