How do I stop played items in Podcast disappearing instead of just marked as played?
It used to do what I want until an iTunes update a few months ago.
I am using iTunes on a Windows 10 PC - not an Apple user. Thanks.
Check the settings for your view and your subscriptions. If you are using a view that shows unplayed episodes then, obviously, they will disappear when played. If you want to keep your played episodes make sure that delete played episodes is off in the settings for that series.

In the podcasts section of your library use View > View as > Classic List. See the view options and subscription settings controls in the bottom right corner.

Thanks tt2 - changing the view temporarily enhanced the options available. Hopefully will be able to tick solved when I retest tomorrow. PD
Hi turingtest2, thanks for your answer which makes logical sense but I don't know where to find the options you mention and not for the lack of trying. Perhaps you can suggest where to look please? Below are only options I can find.
When I look at my Itunes settings in Win 10, I only have these view options under the View menu:
The only preferences I can find are under the Edit menu and don't mention Subscription preferences:
