We have updates on our macs that cannot be done because the person who set these up at our company is deceased. Is there a way to remove this apple id? We do not have the id password only the email.

You need to start with step 6. You might want to consider exploring Apple's business program or using a common company ID that is known to whoever handles the computer setup. The ID can be written down and passed on when someone else takes over.
