iPad Home Hub

If I would set up an iPad as a home hub and connect one of the wireless doorbells available....does the iPad screen come on automatically when the doorbell rings? The ipad will be mounted on the wall, plugged in all the time. Would I need to set the display never to lock or turn off?

Hello,

Regardless if an iPad is setup as a HomeKit Home Hub any device associated with your Apple ID will have the same HomeKit functionality. When a HomeKit doorbell rings your iPad will display a notification from either the doorbell’s manufacturer and/or Apple Home. If the doorbell has a camera on it then when the notification is expanded a viewer display will open on the iPad and display the doorbell’s camera as well as have options to communicate through the doorbell. It’s pretty neat when its all setup!
