Removing Authorized Users from Apple Pay

Dear Apple support team,

I have recently learned that after having removed an authorized user from my credit card account this person was able to still have access to my newly created credit card account through Apple Pay as it seems that Apple Pay retains linked card data and does not remove the credit card information from the previously authorized user account.

While it is convenient to not have to type a newly credit card account into Apple Pay please note that your Apple Pay system is exposing credit card holders to unauthorized users.

This needs a fix ASAP

Apple Pay functions as a virtual card, an electronic token representing the card and each setup is unique to its card and Apple device. An authorized user on the account should have had secondary card with a unique card number which can be linked to Apple Pay. If you put the secondary card on Stop by revoking its authorization your bank should also stop the associated Apple Pay because it is using the number of the cancelled card.

I can see three possible routes where what you describe could occur.

  1. A transaction which was approved before authorization was revoked but it may not have been posted immediately to the account.
  2. Your bank has been negligent by allowing ongoing use of Apple Pay after the related card was revoked
  3. The Apple Pay was setup against a different card number which has not been revoked.

How would you expect Apple to know about you revoking the second user’s card? Apple does not have any information about authorization and use of cards or Apple Pay, that is entirely between you and your bank.

Hi, actually you caused that by allowing someone to use your card. The only way to stop that is to replace the card and cancel the other one. No one can access your Apple Pay without your prior knowledge or consent. Cards that are remove from Wallet do not disappear immediately but they do drop off. You need to stop that card immediately and have them send you a new one.
