How do I export video from Photos into iMovie?

I use Apple Photos to catalog and interact with all of my photo/video media. When working with video that I have freshly imported into Photos from my iPhone how do I export to iMovie? There doesn't seem to be an easy way to do this. I can go into iMovie which is a full screen app, reduce it's size to half screen, place the window next to photos and drag the video over. Or I can go into My Media and painstakingly search for the video ( which I already have cued up in Photos). Am I missing the export to iMovie function?

You access them from within iMovie:

1 - open iMovie and under Libraries select Photos.

2 - next select Albums in men menu go the right of Project Media.

3 - the Video smart album in the Photos library will give you access to all movies in the library.
