do you think there is a possibility that my recovery partition is corrupted ?

Recovery will fall back to Internet. Your Single-Use Mode is also suspect.

if so, can that be corrected by doing a reinstall of macOS from external drive ?

In-place re-installation modifies macOS files. Non-macOS files are preserved, unless you choose to erase the destination partition.

i think a reinstall would preserve my apps and data.

Yes.

my model is 11,2 ... the model i wanted to buy (aura N) supports bootcamp with this model i believe.

Macbook Airs have a lot of issues with third-party SSDs. I suggest ensuring you have a working installation of both OSes, otherwise you should return the SSD.

boot into mojave from the ssd, create my share hfs+ partition

Once you create the Share partition, BC Assistant will no longer function properly. You will have to install Windows manually.

that should leave me with a clean GPT and no abnormalities with the partitions, correct ?

Yes.

i used COMMAND + R, i did not think that was internet recovery ... just regular recovery.

Local Recovery falls back to Internet Recovery, if corrupted.

either way, i think its best to start clean. i could use extra space so i might go with an owc ssd.

OWC SSDs for specific models do not support Bootcamp. Be careful!

my apologies for consuming your time, and thank you for the help i greatly appreciate it.

NP. Post back if you run into any further issues.
