AirDrop on Mac won't show "Allow me to be discovered"

I'm trying to use AirDrop on my Mac but the option to "allow me to be discovered" will not show & will not show my devices. Wifi and bluetooth are turned on. AirDrop works with all of my other devices. Any suggestions?

It appears that the Airdrop on my Mac screen is not switched on, and cannot find how to do so. My IPad Airdrop is working perfectly but is not showing my Mac as a nearby Airdrop. All Bluetooth items are switched on but that of my Dell Lap Top whilst not connected on the Mac, the Mac accepts Bluetooth photo deliveries - albeit it very slow.

I cannot find how to switch on the Air Drop facility on my Mac
