Faulty Apple series 3 watch

Has anyone had apple replace the screen if the watch after it literally lifted without any impact. I had the watch 2 weeks, it was never dropped, and the screen had a "hairline crack from incidental damage ." Apple refused to fix it without charging a ridiculous fee. This should be a quality issue and I feel apple should stand behind their craftsmanship. Unfortunately, they do not. I'm left with a new watch, with a lifted screen, so it's essentially worthless. Any recommendations as to my next step?
