I have an old iPad 2, A1396. Is it true that there is no Apple Pencil for that model/version?

An 8-year iPad 2 cannot use any version of the Apple Pencil.

No iPad made before Fall 2015 can use any Apple Pencil.

Also, the Bluetooth spec of the 8-year old iPad 2 is, also very old and does NOT support ANY of the third party smart Bluetooth stylus available from the market place.

The iPad 2’s Bluetooth spec is too old.

The only option for a stylus is to use an everyday, common place capacitive stylus , but one with a more accurate disc-style tip.

With the disc style tip, Adonit uses a disc material that is better for no scratching of the iPad's screen.

These disc-type stylii are relatively cheap, but of excellent quality from Adonit and offer better precision writing and drawing.

A next step up from a disc tip capacitive stylus is something called a fine tip “active”, battery powered capacitive stylus.

These use a fine tip with an internal battery to simulate your fingers electrical impulses needed for any commonplace capacitive stylus to work.

The best of these types of “active” , battery powered capacitive stylii are by Adonit.

Both these types of commonplace, capacitive stylii are designed to work with ANY iPad or iPhone.

In either of these stylus choices, there is NO pressure sensitivity for dark/light/thick/thin line strokes and NO palm rejection!

To help with the palm rejection issue using any capacitive type stylii, you can use these capacitive stylii with a special, non-electrical conducting, lycra-based material drawing glove that work by isolating your hand/palm ( and your body’s own electrical impulses from your hand/palm ) and allow you to lay your hand/palm on the screen as you draw in these non-compatible Adonit stylus apps.

Something like this found on Amazon.

Many more makers of these types of gloves on Amazon.
