Friend gave me his old iPhone 6....

So a friend gave me his old iPhone 6. However it's activation locked and after several tries he was unable to remember the old account he used with it. He last used it around four years ago apparently but it still works. It's just activation locked and he gave it to me since I'm in need of a phone but can't afford one.

Any help would be much appreciated.
