Ear piercing screeching noise with Air Pods

Hi!

I've had my airpods for about 9 months now and they have been working great, but the last 3 days I have been on a call and there is a loud ear piercing screeching noise in both ears that happens mid-call.

Its so loud and high pitched that I've had to rip my Airpods out of my ears and I think it is causing some hearing damage.

I've tried deconnecting and reconnecting my Airpods and it still is making this awful noise.

Is there a fix for this?
