Imac not sending iMessage but can receive messages
I can receive messages on my iMac but cannot send messages.
I would never have dreamed it, but it worked for me too! THANK YOU a whole lot!

I found something that worked for me.
Go to Keychain access
Go to file menu search for: com.apple.facetime
Right click on it and delete com.apple.facetime:registrationV1
Reboot computer
Launch iMessages
Try a test message. It should now work.

I am having the exact same issue. I also have a 27" 5k iMac (late 2015 it tells me) running OS10.14.06 The problem started after a recent update. Neither restart or signing out and back in Messages has fixed it.
