Pages 8.1 Export to PDF... shortcut

Hey I want to make a shortcut in pages to Export to PDF rather than clicking twice. I've tried through System Preferences making one in All Aplications and specifically to Pages but both don't work. I type it in as it is in the menu: Export to PDF... but no luck. Any idea what I'm doing wrong? I have a job that makes PDFs all day, would be great to have a shortcut for this. Cheers

Im running Mojave 10.14.6

Different apps have different names for the menu item. Apps such as Mail uses "Export to PDF…" but Pages uses "PDF…" I use the same keyboard combo (⌘ ⌃ P, command + control + p) for both & it works for me. I have the "Export to PDF…" under all applications but "PDF…" under Pages in System Preferences > Keyboard > Shortcuts > App Shortcuts.

Hi Peggy,

Just a note that it is an ellipsis (option + semicolon) following PDF… and not three periods, as some may assume. I have been using a custom keyboard shortcut like this for awhile. After the shortcut, it is two returns to take the defaults, and output the PDF.

The only downside to the export panel is that it does not export the PDF with the .pdf extension displayed in the Finder — unless it is explicitly added in the panel.

Hi Peggy,

I think the "as some may assume" in Viking's reply was referring to others reading the post, not to your possible

use of ... in place of … The …s in your post are definitely ellipses, easily detectable by placing the | a couple of characters ahead of them, pressing the mouse button, and dragging slowly right to select the text one character at a time. Three periods will be added to the selection (and highlighted) one at a time; the three dots of an ellipsis will all be selected simultaneously, as a single character.

Regards,

Barry
