This is crazy, I have unlimited data and only use my data as my internet was such crap I got rid of it,. Apple why do you get to decide if I want to use my data or not to update my phone? This is just plane crazy... is there a work around??

And this is my point, so what if you don’t have access to public wifi or a computer ? Seems ridiculous that you can’t use your data on your phone 🤷♀️ Which I might add, has way better download speeds than the wired internet available where I live :(

Um I did ask the right question, I entered my question in "IPHONE 6S" category asking why you can't update using data? You can only update if connected to wifi..
Correct. You‘ll need Wi-Fi. You can also a public wi-fi if you don’t have Wi-Fi at home or you can also update with iTunes on a computer.
