My Apple Watch won’t charge

when I connect it to its charger it shows the charging icon but it won’t charge and it turns on and off by itself

Apple Watch doesn’t show that it’s charging. Plugged into magnetic charger with 20W charger and won’t charge Just bought an Apple Watch 8 and it it won’t show that it is charging on the screen.
