Hi there, barbaraok!
Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities! That’s a great question you have about turning off your MacBook Pro. Check out this article for How to turn your Mac on or off. This article will give you the steps to locate the power button, depending on which MacBook Pro you have. The article will also provide you a link to an article with keyboard shortcuts to shut down your MacBook Pro.
Have a wonderful day!

The "booklet" is online in the form of various articles such as the ones linked to you. No booklet - less paper/money to print, I guess? Also, presuming you had a Mac before hand, the shut down button hasn't moved in macOS in at least a decade (in all the time I've had Macs). Always been there, same spot.
But, as for short cuts, here's a long list of short cuts you may find helpful in the future :) :
Actually is doesn't appear to be shutdown, it is the Touch ID button. All sorts of little things are different (our other one is a 2012-mid year) with an obvious on-off button. BTW - we've had Macs since 1984, yes the on-off buttons have moved in that time. 😎
So why isn't there a small setup booklet or something when you upgrade to a new model to help you figure it out? I know, that it expecting too much because "old" people like me aren't suppose to bother about computers. My rant is that not all of us upgrade every 6 months nor do we read all sorts of online postings about computers. Just a little consideration would be nice.
The shutdown button is still there.
My apologies, when I think 'button' I tend to think something you can click - not the physical key. Yeah, that looks different now. Sorry again!
