audio on left side only

Hi when I turned on my laptop today sound would only play out from the left side, no sound on the right. I also tried using headphones on it but the same thing is happening. The headphones work fine with other devices just this one. Does anyone know how to help me fix it? Thank you :)

  • SMC and NVRAM Resets:

Restart your Mac and then reset your SMC ought to fix this. Also, reset your NVRAM.


  • Modify the Sound Balance:

Go To: System Preferences > Sound > Select the Mac’s Sound Output Device > adjust the slider from the left


  • Volume Configuration Settings Slow:

There might be something running in the Background that is not responding. So, Force Quit any applications that are not responding. (Go To: Apple menu > Select: Force Quit... > Select [Application Name] followed by (Not Responding) > Click: Force Quit button).
