iMac will not boot up
I restarted my iMac and it won’t boot up. It keeps showing the apple icon alternating with the “do not enter” symbol. I’ve disconnected, reconnected, and tried restarting many times with same result. Please help!

I have EtreCheck. I have been trying to run a backup with WD SmartWare but I can only get so far until it freezes up and I get the spinning pinwheel again. Would it be a good idea to reboot in safe mode?
Thanks. It’s starting up now but moving very slowly. I keep getting the spinning pinwheel for long periods when I try to do anything. I’ll continue to troubleshoot
You may have a failing HD. By chance do you have any antivirus or cleaning apps installed on the computer?
Spent time with a support rep troubleshooting and confirmed the HD is toast 😕
Thanks for trying to help.
That's exactly what I told you, the HD is failing.
