Trouble reinstalling macOS
After erasing my hard drive, I am trying to reinstall macOS from macOS Recovery. But when the onscreen instructions tell me to choose my disk and begin installation, I see no way to choose anything. How do I proceed?

If there’s nothing shown as an installation target, then Disk Utility can be tried. Erase and format and create a GPT-partitioned HFS+ volume, and then back out of Disk Utility and try the install again. Or your internal storage has potentially failed.
Not sure why Apple is suggesting the original disks here, but that’d imply Snow Leopard—10.6 was the last Mac OS X release with DVD media—which means this is a pretty old Mac.
I am guessing that you are asking how to select the disk. Use the keyboards left and right arrow keys to highlight the disk you want to install macOS on, then hit Return.
Thanks for trying to help, but no, I wasn't asking that. My problem is that there is nothing in the window to select, there's no disk listed. I have spoken to Apple Support and it turns out I need to restore from the original os discs, which they are sending. But thank you for your attempt to help. :)
Great that Apple still has the Discs, which exact Mac do you have?
It's a MacBook Pro "Core i5" 2.53 15" A1286. And yes, it is pretty old. 2010
Thanks all, for the replies. I think I'm good. :)
Thanks Yolande. :)
