Under Share the only options I have to send a copy of a Numbers spreadsheet at Airdrop or Message. The ability to email a copy has disappeared.

I suggest that you do the following:

1) switch to another user on your machine and see if the option is there to share a Numbers doc via email

if it is, then you should return to your user space and:

A) quit Numbers

B) go the Finder

C) open the Finder menu item "Go > Go to Folder…"

D) enter the path "~/Library/Preferences/"

E) locate the file "com.apple.iWork.Numbers.plist"

F) move this file to the trash (do not empty yet)

G) Launch Numbers to see if the issue is resolved

"I'm not able to get an image of the open document or the menu"

To take a screen shot of part of the screen including an open menu:

  • Open the menu
  • If available, move the pointer to the menu item to highlight it
  • Press shift-command-4 (Press and hold the two modifier keys, shift and command, tap the 4 key, then release all three)
  • Move the pointer to the top left corner of the part of the screen to be included in the screen shot.
  • Press and hold the mouse button (left)

The pointer will change to a cross hair

  • Drag down and right to the lower right corner of the part of the screen to be included in the screen shot.
  • Release the mouse button

The screen shot will be saved to your desktop with the title "Screen shot" followed by the date and time it was taken.

To post the screen shot in your message:

  • Press return at the end of the last line of text before the planned location of the screen shot.
  • Click the 'two mountain' icon in the row of icons below the compose message window.
  • Locate and click on the Screenshot file in the Desktop window that opens.

After a short delay, your screenshot image will appear in the message.

Regards,

Brry

"I am trying to send a screen shot but I'm having trouble posting the screen shot to the message. "

Have you taken the screen shot?

Do you know where it was saved? (Mine are all saved to my Desktop, a location that was set, I think, by the OS, not by me.)

Have you found the file containing the screenshot?

Can you open it in Preview?

If all answers are 'yes,' you're ready to insert your screenshot into a message.

Place the insertion point ( | ) where you want the image.

Click the Image Insertion icon at the bottom of the composition window.

Double click the Screen Shot 2019… file holding the shot you just took.

Wait a moment, then scrolll down it the top of the sot isn't showing at the bottom of the compose window.

Press return to move the insertion point to a row below the Screen Shot.

Continue composing your message.

Regards,

Barry
