There's nothing to backup.

Purchases on an Apple TV are not downloaded. But a list of them is kept in the Purchase history list of the Apple ID used to buy them.

As long as you have access to the Apple ID, you can access the purchases on any other Apple TV, Mac, iOS device or Windows computer running iTunes by logging in to the Apple ID.
