SIM not valid

Hey , i travelled overseas, my iphone xs max was working 100%. I came back to my country and it is saying 'the sim card that you currently have installed in this iphone is from a service provider that is not supported under the activation policy. However, this is the same sim card i have always used and it just doesnt work on my iphone.
