My AppleTV (first generation) is showing a black screen with
AirPlay

This is frozen in some sort of startup. I've tried unplugging and plugging back in but that doesn't work. I've tried holding down Menu and pressing up and Holding Down Menu and Pressing Down.
Any ideas?
The Apple TV (1st generation) never supported AirPlay, so you must have a different model. Identify your Apple TV model - Apple Support
What you see is the Conference Room Display functionality. Settings﹥AirPlay﹥Conference Room Display﹥On|Off
If the Apple TV has been started up in Conference Room Display mode with restrictions on, then it would require a PIN code to get out of that mode. A restore would erase all settings, including Conference Room Display.
If your Apple TV remote isn’t working - Apple Support (→ Apple Remote (aluminum)). Try unlinking and then linking again of the remote, as described in the support document, to regain remote functionality.

Thanks so much for your reply and for pointing out my mistake the generation of Apple TV. After taking a look at the links you provided, it is a 2nd Generation Apple TV model and the info you provided to unlink and then link again was "MAGIC". Everything is working great. Thank You, Thank You!!
