Mac Mail and Sent folder wonkiness

Some messages I send don't appear independently in the Sent folder, and instead they are included in the previous message I sent to that person.

This is extremely annoying. I want every message I send to show as an independent Sent message so I don't have to look through all Sent messages to figure out where it went.

I scoured Mail settings - still default for Mojave - but don't see anything to change that addresses why this is happening.

I don't see a Mail forum so pls. move this to a more appropriate forum if need be.

I was going to include setting screencaps, but this forum doesn't allow us to upload pics? They have to be hosted somewhere first?

Hi TheOriginal150mph,

Thanks for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. I understand that you're seeing some sent messages in Mail on your Mac being tied to previously sent messages to a sender, rather than appearing on their own. I can see why you'd reach out about this; I'd like to help. First, I'd recommend using the steps below to rebuild the "Sent" mailbox on your Mac:

"You may need to rebuild a mailbox to update the list of messages it contains. For example, if messages appear to be missing or garbled, or if you can’t find all relevant messages when you search using the Entire Message search option.

    1. In the Mail app  on your Mac, select a mailbox in the Mail sidebar.
    2. Choose Mailbox > Rebuild."

Rebuild mailboxes in Mail on Mac

If the behavior continues, please provide the following details:

How many email accounts do you use with Mail on your Mac?

If so, do you notice if the affected messages are sent from a specific account, or are all affected?

What kind of email accounts are affected (iCloud, Gmail, Yahoo!, Exchange, etc)?

Do you find this affects messages sent to specific contacts?

Best Regards.
