Your credit card information does not match your bank's records.

Every time I try to buy/update an app, I get the error:

*Your credit card information does not match your bank's records. Please enter a US credit card and matching billing address.*

I tried to enter the updated card info into iTunes – no dice.

I tried to enter the updated card info into the iPhone directly – no dice.

I went to me.com and changed my CC information there (all the same Apple account, right?). The CC worked fine there, but still errors when I try to enter that very same card into iTunes.

I have downloaded and installed the newest version of iTunes and iPhone OS too with no success.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

MacBook Black, Mac OS X (10.6.4), 2GB RAM

If you can't add your payment information through the settings in your iPhone and it shows that your card number is not matching your credit card type then You can solve this problem by visiting appleid.apple.com and sign in from there then go to payment and choose add card in the first option

Then you enter your credit card information then done.

You will receive email that your information was updated.

But you should make sure first from your bank that you don't have any block on your card.

Thank you.

ok after calling technical support (ha ha ha or lack there of), they were no help to me. just a bunch of script kiddies.

But I fixed it myself, changed card type from VISA to NONE then clicked DONE. And now I can download my free app update. I guess this means I will never buy anything from apple again. Go to h e l l apple. thanks for the itunes store update....

Im dealing with this issue right now after getting a new card from the same bank account. Called the bank. All is fine. Worked on Amazon, Netflix, etc... even the Apple Store, but not Itunes.

Considering I need Itunes for just about everything I carry has me wondering if a step back in time later this week and putting all Mac products on Ebay and back to old Blackberries and PCs may be needed...As much as I hate to do that, Itunes and apps are needed and I dont have time for this...The rest of the world works fine with the credit card info except Itunes...Then to suggest I have to use paypal now or another card... I dont think so....

The latest! I tunes is officially a joke now!

This is just trying to change the credit card number with the same bank and the same Itunes account!

Finally got an Apple troubleshooter on the phone. Great as always (be advised Itunes has no humans to talk to. The cowards hide behind emails) - The Apple support guy gets Itunes on his own chat window...they tell him the same as me "tough, nothing we can do about it. Tell customer to use a different card."

Second call to Apple customer care off corporate line....The Apple service I have come to expect. This poor guy spent 3 hours on this....

We called my bank:
Bank, "Yes, of course the information on the credit card is correct. We have it here where we have approved it 11 TIMES today!"

Apple Guy talks to Itunes cowards again:
Itunes, "No something is wrong with the information."
Apple Guy "No, its been approved 11 TIMES today."
Itunes, "Call VISA.

Apple Guy calls VISA with me on the phone:
VISA, "What? We dont keep the address information. All of those calls and issues are from the issuing bank."

Apple Guy talks to Itunes cowards again:
Apple Guy, "I have talked to the bank personally. All the information is correct. Not only that a purchase has been made at other online businesses today such as Amazon. We also just spoke to VISA. It's not them either"
Itunes cowards, "No we are not wrong. It's the bank."

Itunes is the weak link in the Apple chain. We own 2 MacBook Pros, 2 Iphones and have an Ipad under the tree. Now that we know in a jam Itunes does not let you talk to humans nor do they admit when they are wrong and blame it on the rest of the world.... Well... our old Motorola phones and (gulp) Dells are looking a little better now... Itunes even doesnt work well with the other Apple employees trying to do their job!

Oh my gods guys, seriously? Why are you all slapping this stuff around and just whining about yourselves and comparing eachothers "misery"? It's an issue, and issues have to be solved. Action does not take place till someone does something first, right? Maybe it's just a glitch..

Yes, it involves our bank accounts and money is being put on hold. I'm in the same predicament. Maybe this will be taken a lot more seriously if we all just reported the issue without name calling? Please?

Kudos to those who are being mature in the thread. 😀
Anyways..

I'm in the exact boat as Ben Costa, except I'm on my mac pro and ipad, neither one helps so it might be a server issue? I don't know, and I'm really not smart with this stuff. I read from another poster before that he/she changed their actual information in the bank to fit the extra four digits from the zip code and everything went back to normal- If I read that correctly.

Also, deleting the bill info will let you download free apps again. I'm going to try deleting the info and re-submitting it. Maybe it's already fixed but we just have to clear the old info out... Maybe. Don't know, but going to find out. xD

Also, I'm going to call Apples billing service and see if I get a better answer- at least bring it up to them. If I remember, I'll post anything else that works to help you all out. There has to be ways of fixing this.

Okay, for those who have this problem, first of all, clear your credit card/debit info if you want to get free updates and free apps again if you can not wait. XD

What's going is what MHeathCote said,
mheathcote :::: "I fixed my issue - updated the address on my credit card with the bank to include the extra 4 digits on the zipcode and just managed to buy a song OK ...... so looking good so far."
Apple is using extended zipcodes, for whatever reason (security I guess) and so yes- they are right. It's a bank issue.

But, if you're stuck like savagetounge, and your bank doesn't use extended zipcodes, you might not be able to add in that extra 4 digits. Someone used 0's to replace those missing digits and apparently it's working for them. See if this helps any.. Much luck!!

Hi,
I'm new to this situation and will get it figured out too but at first glance I'd be appalled to have to go back to my credit card company and alter information to make purchases work with one vendor. Especially when it works fine everywhere else.

No vendor is so majestic that they should be given latitude like that. We are still the customer, not sheep???

I've done it that way. Doesnt matter how I type the info I always get the same error. I went to my bank card website and the info is exactly as it appears, yes I even copy and pasted and still nothing. This is really annoying. I wonder if theres a work around since paypal doesnt work either with paypal I get the message there are no funding sources available and I went to paypal and updated the itunes agreement to use my credit card but nothing. I can buy from ebay, amazon etc but not from Apple its....sad.

HERE IS HOW TO FIX IT! I HAVE DONE THIS TWICE TO FIX IT

If you're having problems buying things from iTunes such as: Credit card rejected (even if you're paying by PayPal) Session Timeouts (on a non-Microsoft platform -- there is a different fix for Session Timeout on a Microsoft platform) Credit card information does not match bank information Unable to create a new account or save changes from iTunes to your account After struggling for 3 days to fix this problem, I finally found something that works EVERY time, at least for me, and people who go through ALL the steps also find it works for them. It's important to follow ALL the steps -- people who skipped steps because "all my information LOOKS right" kept having problems until they followed all of them, and then all the problems cleared up. So, here's what I've found works EVERY time: Sign out of iTunes. Reboot your Mac or whatever device you're using to access the iTunes store (including your iPhone and/or iPad). Open a web browser and go to [URL] (or Google "Apple ID" and choose the "My Apple ID" option). Sign in with your Apple ID and click "Manage your account"..............

Your credit card information does not match your bank's records.
