Every time I try to buy/update an app, I get the error:

*Your credit card information does not match your bank's records. Please enter a US credit card and matching billing address.*

I tried to enter the updated card info into iTunes – no dice.

I tried to enter the updated card info into the iPhone directly – no dice.

I went to and changed my CC information there (all the same Apple account, right?). The CC worked fine there, but still errors when I try to enter that very same card into iTunes.

I have downloaded and installed the newest version of iTunes and iPhone OS too with no success.

Any ideas?

Make sure that your name and address information match that on your credit card billing statement exactly; e.g. things like ST or Street, middle initial or none, etc. In some cases having any deviation from how the credit card company has your information, even a seemingly insignificant deviation, has cause the credit card processor to reject the validation. I know that it seems unlikely since your card is accepted in MobileMe, but check anyway; with all the reported problems with crooks hijacking or counterfeiting iTunes Store accounts, the processors may be checking more precisely.

If you continue to have problems, contact the iTunes Store Customer Service department using the form on their Support page (select the category and subcategory closest to the issue you're reporting and you'll find an "Email Us" button) and explain your situation to them.

i have the same problem. and im being charged 1 dollar every time i attempt to verify my account info with itunes. now im 34 dollars short cuz ive tried it that many times. missing money and I STILL cannot update my apps on my iphone cuz of the "credit card info doesnt match your banks records" emailed itunes support, and went to my bank to see what info they have on me to make sure it matches

You're not being charged. The attempts are putting a small hold on your account to verify the validity of the account. Those holds should be reversed by your bank in a couple of days.

Why the holds can get through and charges cannot I cannot say. It may be a problem with your iTunes Store account, or it may be a problem with the credit card processor.

I'm having issues with this as well.

Dave, you write, "Make sure that your name and address information match that on your credit card billing statement exactly; e.g. things like ST or Street, middle initial or none, etc."

I've checked, double-checked and triple-checked my iTunes store info against my bank info, and there is only one inconsistency: my middle initial. The "Edit Payment Information" interface in iTunes doesn't have a space for the middle initial, and so, I'm not able to input this information. Any thoughts on how I can add this information? I'm pretty sure this is what's tripping up the confirmation process, since everything else seems consistent.

Mine is declined. I had to open an account using no card. Clickandbuy doesn't work either. Talked to my issuer and they said I'm not the first who have these problems but from their end everything is good to go. Apple says it's my card and questions if I can make purcgases elsewhere - which I can.

I'm having the same problem as well.

Just like manyshades, I checked and checked and checked and the only issue is I have a middle initial on my card and there is no spot on the Edit Payment Information to add a middle initial. And I doubt Apple will see this as a priority to fix.

Same issue. I do have a middle initial on my place to type that middle initial in on the itunes to update. I hope they fix that asap because I just received my iphone 4 September 7th 2010 and can't purchase any apps this way! UGH!

    I have this error.

It is because iTunes 10 auto fills in your zip code. For me, I put 21045, it shows 21045-2145 or something - the full 9 digits.

At my bank, it is only recorded as five digits, so in record it looks something like this: 210450000.

So it just so happens I'll never buy from iTunes again and I'm going to, much more convenient and CHEAPER.

I have the same problem! suddenly tonight! Updated to iTunes 10 a couple days ago. NOw iTunes Store says by zip code doesn't match my credit card records, and when I try to verify my payment info exactly, it keeps saying it doesn't match. ***???

Same problem on my wife's account, seems to be since upgrading to iTunes 10 I've just updated the cc details to add the 4 digit extension to the zip so we'll see if that works after the bank processes the changes....the bank are not seeing any $1 holds on the account though.

Apple are letting too many errors creep through these days, reminds me of the big M (and not the burgers) !

I sent an email into the support team via this portal, waiting on a response. Suggest you all do the same, the more the merrier to get some attention.

I fixed my issue - updated the address on my credit card with the bank to include the extra 4 digits on the zipcode and just managed to buy a song OK ...... so looking good so far.

When I try to update or purchase apps on my iPhone 3GS I get redirected to my billing info page where it say's billing info does not match bank's records. I have a valid Chase debit card that has worked on previous purchases. This problem has been persisting for over a month now. I have done extensive research online and have tried all remedies to no avail. From what I've gathered the problem is iTunes requires the billing info to match the banks records EXACTLY which I have done, checked and re-checked. The only difference is in the iTunes billing info it automatically adds the 4 digit extension to the zip code which I cannot add to my banks records, their field only allows the first 5 digits. I am sure this is where the hang up is as this is the focal point of many other people online who are having the same problem and quite frankly i am frustrated that their seems to be no fix without changing iTunes security requirements or Chase banks online records layout. On a further note every time I attempt to fix this problem I get a $1 hold on my bank account multiplied by how many times I attempted a fix. This to me is absolutely unacceptable, not only can I not update my apps or purchase anything from iTunes but my money is being frozen due to this error, this affects my livelihood and I can't express how infuriating this is. And what I don't understand is why does iTunes deny that the billing info is correct if it can get through and put a hold on my account? I will except nothing short of a fix and some sort of compensation due to the problems this has incurred, I don't think I need to mention that it is very bad business practice to prevent people from spending money on your product.

I took my mac into the Apple store to be repaired about two weeks ago. They had to replace the logic board. When I got the mac back and turned it on I got a message saying that my time zone and/or date had changed and that may affect some applications. Ever since then I have not been able to purchase anything on iTunes through the store. My card is good and works everywhere else online. I have noticed on a few other threads that people that have traveled abroad are getting the same errors. I have reset my time zone and entered and re-entered my bank account information several times and nothing is working. I have written into customer support and got the generic response to look call my bank. Does anyone at Apple read this stuff? Are they aware of the problem?
