Dual 4K displays for 2017 MBP 15”
Hi there - I have a 2017 15” MBP (4x TB3) ports. I also have 2x 27” AOC 4K monitors. I want to be able to connect them both to my MBP in an extended desktop setup instead of having both of them mirror my MBP desktop.
Currently, each monitor is connected via USB-C to DisplayPort cable, and I’ve been looking for some kind of docking station solution so I can reclaim some additional ports.
I’ve so far found the Wavlink dual link 4K docking station (WL-UG69DK1), the Alogic TB3 to 2x DisplayPort adapter (TB34K2DP) and the Alogic USB-C triple display docking station (UCD3D34K-H).
all of these give me the impression that (in theory) I should be able to connect 2x DisplayPort 4K monitors, and run them via a single USB-C (TB3) connection. What none of them confirm is whether or not they’ll give me an extended desktop or just mirror on both.
Contacting the resellers say to contact manufacturer. Manufacturers either don’t respond or say contact Apple. Apple says contact the manufacturer and the cycle goes round and round and round and I still have no answer.
Does ANYBODY out there have a 2x DisplayPort setup with extended desktop? If so, how is it configured, what docking station / adapter do you use? Any help with finding a solution to this would be much appreciated.
