How do I change the preview pane from the side to the bottom of emails?

Getting classic formating on Mail in OS Big Sur I have a new Macbook Pro using OS Big Sur and having struggled with the new layout of MAIL, I want to return to the OLD layout: the "classic" horizontal message list with the "viewing pane" below the list. I've looked around and see no way to do this either in Mail preferences or in VIEW. Is there a way to do it?

how can I change the view or customize the view in when I receive an e-mail? how can I change the view in my e-mail panel or customize the view in my MacBook pro 15 ? all my e-mail appear in full screen I don't know how to make that change in a way that all my e-mail notices will appear in a vertical line. in my lopt top ...help!

Change Viewing preferences in Mail on Mac - Apple Support provides mail viewing preferences.
