Trouble moving images in keynote

Hi-

This seems like a silly question, but for the life of me I can't figure it out... I am working on a presentation in keynote and when I add .jpg or .pdf images into the presentation, I can resize them but I can't move them. I have tried to drag them once they are selected, but 90% of the time nothing happens (for some reason, about 10% of the time the ipad responds to my finger and the images move). I am having the same issue with selecting the images once they are already placed in the presentation... about 1/10 times that I press on the image it selects, and the rest of the time nothing happens.

Any tips on how to move images around in a keynote presentation?

Thanks!

Hello ccurran1108,

I see that you're experiencing some issues repositioning images in presentation slides within Keynote on your iPad. I have some steps I'd like you to try to fix this, so your future presentations will turn out exactly as you want them to.

You mentioned that occasionally images will not select when you tap on them. Do you mean you don't see little blue dots around the image when you tap on it? The dots may appear grey instead of blue if the image is locked, as seen here: Layer, group, and lock objects.

To troubleshoot this issue, I recommend first restarting your iPad: Restart iPad. This is a very simple step, but it can help resolve a lot of different types of issues. Next, update the Keynote app on your iPad if it shows there is an update available. You can check for updates by opening the App Store and selecting Updates. After that, update your iPad if it's not running the most current iOS version available for it. You can see steps on how to update here: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. Test out Keynote afterwards by creating a new presentation and inserting a couple of images into it.

If the issue persists, back up your iPad, delete the Keynote application, and then redownload it again from the App Store. Here are some resources that will help you out with these steps:

If you continue to experience the same thing, reply back letting me know the answers to the following questions:

  1. Does this occur with presentations that were originally created using your iPad, presentations originally created on another device, or both?
  2. Do you experience issues with your iPad not responding to touch in any other applications besides Keynote?

Hi,

yes i I have tried restarting and redownloading the app, and the issue persists. It is not that the gray dots show up not blue, but 9 times out of 10 when I try to select an image nothing happens at all. And then once the image is actually selected it will not move.

I have only used keynote on my iPad, so I’m not sure if this problem would exist if I were to work on a presentation created on a different device. And for some reason the only place I am having this issue on my iPad is with keynote, or with any of the other apps.

Thanks for any help you can offer. I am stumped by this and appreciate it.

Thanks,

cody
