contacting the server for information

I updated to 10.14.6 Supplemental Update this week. Since then, none of my Microsoft Office applications work (Word, PowerPoint) when I'm opening a file that is on a OneDrive - I get endless dialog boxes with "Contacting the server for information".

The workaround is to Force Quit the Office application, pause OneDrive syncing, and re-try.

Current setup:

MacBook 12" 2017

10.14.6 Mojave with supplemental update

Word 2016 Retail License

OneDrive version 19 (corporate/enterprise login)

Any solutions on the horizon or other individuals experiencing this issue? This was working prior to the supplemental update.

I found the solution here through a Microsoft forum post to my question cross-posted there..

"For Mac, click the OneDrive icon in the menu>ellipsis>Preferences>untick Use Office 2016 to sync Office files that I open.

After unticking this setting, all files will be synced by OneDrive sync client."
