Time Capsule not connecting after move...
Hi! I have an old 3TB Time Capsule which I didn't actually set up and start using until probably about 3 or 4 years ago even though I bought it back when they came out. At our old house (so a different router/network) it was working fine after initial setup. We've moved, and I just finally tried to set it all up here. Service at both locations was/is Verizon FiOs, but different equipment and wifi names/passwords.
Time Capsule wasn't being used as a router, only for backups. At the old house, it connected via wifi as the router was in the other room, but did have ethernet connecting it to the iMac. My hope when we moved was to figure out using it in a way that could also back up my MacBook and our iPhones, but at this point I'll just be happy if I can get it working like it was before.
Simply just plugging it back into the computer didn't work, although interestingly the Time Machine settings are still "on" and it does list the TC there with the correct name and not give any errors regarding the hourly backups. It doesn't show up at all under the airport utility on the iMac, and I don't see it on my phone either, which I checked after reading another post here. It can reach the router here, so I also tried plugging the TC right into the router via ethernet, still flashing yellow and not showing up anywhere (except as a destination in the time machine settings). What's going on here? Can I fix it? Do I need to reset everything? If yes, any advice on a good setup to include the laptop and phones for backups since I'd be starting over anyways?
TC: A1409
iMac: mid 2011 27in running El Capitan 10.11.6
Verizon Router: Fios G1100 (apparently they're making their own hardware now?)
Airport Utility: 6.3.6 (636.5)
And yes, I know I'm long overdue for updates on several fronts here. We had some stuff with Quickbooks for Mac that advised against updating to Sierra (I think it was?) and haven't done much since then out of fear of messing up QB.
