My iPhone will not ring for text messages while my Mac is being used, so I sometimes miss urgent text messages while I’m working on the computer (or while the computer performs operations while I do other things). Is there any way to fix this, or must I switch from Mac to PC?

I get emails from several accounts on my phone via the mail app, not sure if that's what you mean or how it would relate. The iPhone gets Blue and Green messages. It's possible the mac is only getting blue (I always delete old messages on Mac, so I only have a few I can see and they are all blue.
I suspect the Sender(s) are defaulting to the free data based MMS & won't then doesn't send SMS, seems there must be a way to enable SMS on the iPhone.. does it have both Phone# & eMail in your iPhone Contacts?
Phone number and email are in my contacts. I have no idea why this is happening. I've read of people with iWatches having the same issue. If your phone and watch are connected by bluetooth, and you happen to have the watch sitting on your desk or charging rather than wearing it, then your phone won't ring and you miss calls. I solve this by always having bluetooth turned off on my phone. It feels like the same problem with my mac. I don't feel like it's anything wrong with the phone, because If I just didn't have a Mac, everything works perfect on the phone. Only problem is it won't ring for texts when the Mac is turned on. Maybe I could create a different Apple ID for my Mac, but that causes a million other issues.
Strange, & certainly no expert in this area, but seems that maybe phone does't have both phone number & eMail setup, is the Mac getting Green or Blue? The iPhone Green or Blue?
Yes it's a problem, bit no iPhone or iWatch here, hopefully we get better help in here.
