if i forget the encrypt code can i get another form of verification to get my iPhone restored?

Restoring Iphone Data I had to reset my iphone and when i did i restored it so i was able to get all of my icloud info back. However it wouldnt give me my messges which is what i really need. The reason I had to reset my iphone in the first place is because i couldnt remembner the passcode i put on the phone the previous night. Can an iPhone that is security locked be placed into recovery mode and if so. By using “update” rather than restore, is it possible to unlock the phone and gain access again to the data - does it give another opportunity to enter the password to unlock it?

End to End Encrypted Data recovery? I had to reset my iPhone SE recently and would like to get my data back. What does it mean by me being able to approve the iPhone using another device? I don't want to have to delete the encrypted data.
