Operating in a Closed state

Is it safe to keep my 13” 2017 MB-Pro in a closed state most all of the time. The bottom of the unit will be fully exposed to air flow at all times.

I am looking to putting it in a mesh storage area on the underside an IKEA desk to keep it out of sight. The unit would be closed but the bottom with the air vents would be 100% open and exposed for cooling. Any issues or downside to this configuration? I’d prefer to even leave the unit on/sleeping continuously if there is no downside.
