I was using google app and suddenly a “window” appeared on my iPad screen NET SHIELD UPDATE from Safari-protection.com saying Net Shield Required and I must INSTALL!

The seconds were ticking away before it was automatically installed...

I immediately ignored and closed because I thought it’s a bug/virus ... but does anyone know what it is and what’s going on here?

(I was googling for a digital planner.)

No, it's not from Apple. You are being pestered by a pop-up adware. You don't need anything of the sort.

No Anti-Virus software or so-called “cleaning” apps are needed or recommended for Mac OS. They can conflict with Mac's own built-in security. At best they will slow your Mac by using unnecessary resources and at worst will bork your entire system. Your Mac has all the built-in protection you need.
