keyboard typing heiroglyphs not letters

My keyboard got drenched with water about two weeks ago. I am testing it now. The caps lock illuminates and the keys seem to work but they type heiroglyphics not letters. When I type the alphabet, it looks like this:

å∫ç∂´ƒ©˙ˆ∆˚¬µ˜øπœ®ß†¥√∑≈¥Ω

Anybody have remedy?

That indicates your machine thinks the option key is being held down. Try another keyboard (doesn't have to be from Apple). If it works ok, the original one needs repair.

You’re potentially headed for a top-case replacement with this MacBook Air.

Potentially more replacement parts, depending on how deep into the case the water, keyboard dust, and any ensuing corrosion has gotten or will get.

Or this is heading toward a replacement MacBook Air, depending on the vintage of this Mac and the repair costs.

Or reading up upon, and performing some very fussy keyboard disassembly and repairs yourself.
